What is Multi-Lingual design?

Many people talk about it … as if it was simply the replacement of English with another language in an existing document, but design is done with intent, with a specific goal in mind. Some speak of it as if it was just a technical endeavor. Certainly the technical component is important … Others speak of it in convoluted, complex, grandiose terms … this may sound ideal but is impractical in the healthcare environment …

Multi-lingual design is developing maerials and documents which are intended to be translated. They are attractive, functional, and flexible.

Great multilingual documents can be written in English or Spanish or Chinese and then translated to another language. In some cases, the translation will be much shorter than the English. In others, the translation will be much longer.

Colors are a hot-button and much are made of them. They are certainly important and often overemphasized. We approach design with healthy doses of realism, pragmatism and common sense. But never forget, they are a hot-button and can not be ignored.

Images and imagery are extremely important to many people and rightfully so. Photos of people can add warmth and vitality to a design. They can also add complexity and expense as people from different ethnic groups look to identify with the images. Illustrations can be carefully constructed to explain, inform and instruct. Colors and features can be adjusted as needed. We take the time to understand your budget and goals and then suggest an optimal approach.
